Indigestion

My body rejects you
Love is a foreign food

You give me flowers
And it blocks me up, I can’t eat
Butterflies and stomach bugs sitting together inside me
These are new flavors
my gut bacteria is not equipped for

You say you miss me, I’m in your head
And I’m up all night on the toilet
Begging for relief
I don’t know how to process

You call me your baby
And a string of curses floods my head
It’s too close, too soon
I can’t digest this

I have never been sicker
I have never been more full

God grant me the enzymes
I need to taste love and keep it down
